Hello Everyone, I hope you are all staying safe in these strange times. I'm sending this email to you to let you know that this club season will be unusually unique. Because the school district and most of the private schools aren't renting gym time to any outside groups and we don't anticipate that changing anytime soon we have looked for alternatives to be able to play.
Steve Manuel and Brad Hudson are the coaches of the UBCO mens and womens teams and have come forward with a proposal that has been approved by VBC for this season. They are in the unique position to have access to their home gym and therefore can facilitate a club program.
Sooo.... for this season only it has been agreed to by the Kelowna clubs to run the U17/18 boys season all under the UBCO Jr. Heat club program.
The initial plan subject to change is to have internal playdays on Sundays where teams are made and a mini tourney style gameplay is done. Possibly having other cohort clubs in to play as well. Along with this they want to do one practice day per week which may evolve into more as the spring develops and more gym time opens up.
This is all very new and evolving daily but this is the initial layout and both Paul Theissen and I are confident this is the best way for you to get on the court in 2021. On the Jr Heat website under 2021 registration it says:
" Our training cohorts (both genders) will be comprised of approximately 36 athletes, mostly 17u & 18u with a small number of 16u athletes. This would allow for the athletes to train and receive meaningful competitive opportunities within the group until such time we are able to play against other clubs"
Here is the link to Register. www.jrheatvolleyball.com Let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful time playing. Cheers for now.
